I recently did a stint working out near Cameron’s Corner in QLD, and as usual I freighted all of my tools ahead of me in a giant Pelican chest, using Toll Priority.
It never arrived, and 15 days later I’ve returned and they still don’t know where the box is.
It’s got all of my tools (about 20 grands worth) in it.
The job was a fucking challenge using the basic stuff they had laying around at the cattle station, but now I’m screwed. I can’t work until they find them, or admit they’re lost and I can go buy new stuff on them.
Worse though, is their lack of interest in trying to help. Which is why I’m reaching out here, to see if I can get someone on the inside to help out.

Griff, I hate to be the one to tell you, but (unless you have insurance that specifically covers your tools) Toll are never going to pay you anything like $20K.

The fine print on the back of the consignment note you signed includes the words "TOLL is not a common carrier, does not accept the obligations or liabilities of a common carrier...." .This allows them to limit their liability to refunding you the cost of shipping..
We've been in this situation many times, once losing a $50K order that we had to work through Christmas to re manufacture.
It's completely fucked and there's no one to turn to for help. Every government department says it's someone elses job to regulate the courier industry.
Really hoping that they find it for you.

That’s a shit thing to happen mate , but pk is correct. You do need insurance for this . And specify what’s insured. Is suggest when ringing toll speak with a manager, ask them to check the depots at send and receive point. Toll will have a tracking number to track toll priority. How heavy was the box, it may have been sent air freight. Either with toll air or qantas freight. I’m at work on Monday I’ll try and track down some numbers of Syd/ qld toll people for you .

Thanks guys, yeah not my first rodeo with these clowns.
I specifically insured it for $25k, but have pictures and descriptions of everything that goes into the box.

We'll see how it plays out, I won't dick around with small claims mobs. I'll just get our corporate lawyers onto it.

:) Griff, that's the best news I've read on the internet for a while. As my friend so eloquently says, "Fuck 'em with an axe!"

So our Toll delivery guy rocked up today just after lunch (as he does) and delivered my box of tools.
    Has made my week.
If anyone here pulled some strings, thank you.
