Yer, I had one of these, it was ok in warm months and fail through cold months. Went the next size up, it was better but I would occasionally have issues.

Not sure I would buy one again.

I'm very tempted to pull it apart and have a peek at how they get a 12.4V battery to charge from a 15V supply... I suspect it's gonna be nasty cheap...

Yep, ive got one of these, i wont get one again. Had it about 18mths, nice and small, i like. But DOES NOT like the cold. Couldnt start my bike in “Hill End” NSW, had to leave later than i was wanting to, as i had to wheel my bike into the sun and leave it for a while.

Good for a track bike though.

Stop eating pies is a better way to get the weight of your bike down.

I ran a Shorai for a while. On cold days I found leaving the ignition on for 30 seconds before cranking helped.

battery.jpg Couldn't help myself, so this is just a 4S Li<something> battery. It says "Max charging voltage 14.6V" on the box, which makes it 3.65v/cell , so it's almost certainly LiFePO, ie Lithium iron phosphate..
The little PCB is just to balance the charge between the cells. Actually not too shitty. I'll run with it and add more cells if she struggles on a cold morning.

Works at the end of the day no battery is really keen at negative temps.

The Shorai would always fire the 9 even in sub zero temps and you could hear it being just a fraction slower.

Allowing for all the air in there, the LiFePO4 battery is about 1/3rd the size of the PbH2SO4 battery it's replacing. Which is actually about right. I put it in and she starts fine. I'll ride it to work and measure it's capacity, the old battery had 19AH printed on the sticker. I'd be surprised if the new one was 10AH. bat.jpg

Hey MadDog. I have this same battery and few days ago discovered that its wrong for the bike.
Been on the bike for about 6- 7 months.
    Recwntly started to play up.
When i start the bike , power drops below 10V and everything resets.
I called SSB and took the battery to the main distribution Centre in Campbelfield.
They tested it and it showed up at 96% perfect.
The giys at the shop discovered that this battery is not powerful enough for the bike and catalogue shows one at higher CCpower.
    Something LFP20CH
So the shop sold the wrong one.
ssb has agreed to send me new battery next week.
Will keep you posted whwn it arrives.

I think I've said it before (but might be thinking of another forum)

If you're going to get a Lithium, you need to have one with CCA rating of a minimum of 25% more than stock.

EG: stock might be 100CCA, get one that's at least 125CCA.
