After must researching and deliberation I've decided to replace the worn Metzeler Marathon rear tyre on my C109R with a car tyre. I've chosen the SS595 Federal 245/50R16 98V. It's getting fitted on November 18th and I'll give feedback once I've bedded it in. If you've had or do have on your Boulevard a car tyre I'd like to hear your impressions, pros and cons or just any differences you've noticed. More to follow...

Check your insurance for car tyre fitting.

Just put 2000kms on the Federal and its a great tyre that smooths out a lot of road bumps and feels solid on corners. I'm used to pushing the bike through corners so that little extra isn't an issue. The most I've ridden up the sidewall has been about an inch. I run 42 psi as put in by Karl at Road & Circuit when he fitted it. I deliberately chose a performance tyre only for the unsurety about sidewall flex but that isn't likely to occur given my sweet spot is 42psi. The tyre feels great and I doubt I'll be going back. Now I'm searching for a CT to put on my Fat Bob and I'll be done...

i would love to ride behind you when you "push into the corners" just to see for myself how the ct performs against the mt.:pop:

I've got some time off between tomorrow and Jan 11th. I've touched down on both sides and the bike felt solid on the road.

I ran a CT for a while some years ago on my M series.
I loved it. Felt a bit weird at first on corners when it got up on the lip.
Really gave great lift off in a straight line. Bit disappointed at longevity.
Tassie has lots of corners and I think a CT is better suited to long straight roads.
    Just my 2c

I went around Australia on a M109 a few years ago, did 16K Kms in a month.. I was looking at a car tyre as well, but ended up sticking to the 240 Metz that was on it which had done about 3K Kms.. Left Townsville and the plan was to replace in Adelaide... However, at Adelaide tyre was still fine, next plan was Joondalup but like before, tyre was still ok.. Then Darwin with the same result.. Got back to Townsville and did another 1500 Kms or so before I replaced it.. I was buggered tho..

Lesson I learned was that on the highway there is little wear, for me, the few extra Kms you may get are just not worth it..

Rode from Melb to Perth ..... Was great ..... Didn't like it in traffic back in Melb .... But if I did another long ride I would put the Car tyre on again no problem ...
