Random thought and question to myself...

Why bother with a key lock on a fuel tank cap on a motorbike?

Is there a massive black market for non key caps?

When I finally pull my finger out and install the keyless start system I'll need to do something about the fuel cap. How complex can it be?

    About this complex
    [IMG]

As interesting as the valving is, it's mostly about that key barrell, has anyone ever pulled one out? Looks like you need to slide a bit of shim stock in there to depress a copper latch plate...?
After that, I should be able to make a part with those two lobes on the back and a tab on the front. Still need to twist it rather than push it, I can probably live with that...

Still scratching my head on what to replace the barrel with.
Current thinking is to bore a hole through the flip cover and use a knurled stainless knob.
There isn't really room under that flip cover to fit anything you could get a grip on...

I decided after reading some reviews, I'm going to replace the cap on mine with an aftermarket one that is twist to lock - no key.

I have a rizoma one on the Diavel. Comes with an anti tamper lock and key ring attachment... Although you can push in the lock and twist it with your finger...;)

Interesting, does anyone know if there's an aftermarket keyless cap for the 9?
The more I think about this the more complicated it gets. (Right now I'm up to 3 laser operations to make the part!)

:) Not much point in keyless ignition if you still have to carry a key to fill 'er up!

Hope you don't need to get at your fuses, battery or tool kit then because that uses the same key

I've been looking for a keyless cap since installing my keyless ignition but haven't been able to find one.
Plus it's illegal in NSW not to have a locking cap.
