So, we're fast approaching the end of our official 3 months of summer. And it wasn't an overly hot summer. It would generally be the preferred riding season for many. So here's my question..

Why has there been little to none posts for rides, either large group or smaller 3-4 riders?

Is it because people are prefering to ride solo or in their own side group?

Is it lack of time to actually ride? If so, then do you actually need a bike?

Family, friends, work or other commitments?

And before you flame me, I've posted 5 or 6 over the last 18 months or so, and maybe 1 or 2 got interest. The others fell flat through lack of response or availability.

    So, my question is why?

For a forum to exist and keep existing, it needs support and interest from all the side lurkers out there.
And if someone asks for help or advice, smart arse one line responses that have nothing relevant to the question won't keep the folk around we need to keep around for the rides and gatherings.

Or is it the fact the boulevard is getting on in years and has lost interest in the riding community, hence lack of support from forum members.

    Your thoughts?..........

Life is busy with family, work, etc, I get out occasionally with my club but often I'm working weekends(still have 2-3 hours work either end of the day if I take a "day off") so riding has to take a back seat. There was a good turn out for the Albury meet.

Great questions brother, the answers will be many and varied, the bike still retains interest and popularity from our group. I hope that people still have a group ride approach. I think we need more people organizing more rides etc. For my part I'm taking it on board to organize more lunches / dinners . As I get into the swing of it I'll find places all over the place in the attempt to cater for all areas. Sunday past was a great start. 9 attendees with three on the actual ride. A little bit of bad luck robbed me of another 6 people and more than likely 4 of those may have rode with us. We all must take a little bit of ownership and promote, participate in getting out and catching up .

    My thoughts are
As a multiple decades rider ,have always been cautious who I ride with .
Few would I ride with ,as watching incidents,
I prefer to enjoy rides ,
than spending time awaiting ambulances :( .

I’ve been with this forum since the beginning and I was part of the old forum.

You will find, like Hopper has said, there is many valid and varied reasons of why.

    Facebook is one reason.
    Personality’s of some is another.
    Work and family commitments another.
    Money is a big one.
    Mods is another.
    Location of members is another.

I used to organise rides, events, group buys, one off special buys etc.

But after my off, time, money, family, work has stopped me from participating as much as I used too.
Even now, I brought another 9 and am so ridiculously busy with work, family I can not find the time to ride and on the off chance I do find time, I’m so exhausted I can’t be fucked...
Plus my 9 needs some mechanical issues resolved another reason why I’m not riding.

We all are busy and we all try our best to get out, over the years I’ve noticed that if you live in QLD or VIC you get out twice as much as us NSW people, this is possibly due to lifestyle and money/living costs at a guess.

Good post Otta. I’ve been asking the same thing of the Vic’s in here for along time. Hopper’s meets for dinners is a great thing but money is always a problem for some. But a ride costs you only a tank of fuel.
Let’s see how many come on the next ride!

Love your work Otta. I am much the same as you I have posted many a ride with little to no interest. I ride most weekends usually early starts around 6 or 7 so I can get home at a reasonable time. Thats the reason why I more often than not ride solo.
I dont mind travelling a fair way to meet at the start of the ride many a time i have ridden 130kms before the ride has started. Just the ride location and route needs to be of interest for me.
I Have a large young family so shit changes last minute for me and this makes it tricky to go on couples rides and meet ups over a meal.
I dont have much interest in Boulevards anymore as I no longer own one I did enjoy mine when I had it but I have moved on.
I am only on here for the social side and seeing if anyone posts any ride days.

For me it's been the addition of having an on site van to now spend a lot of free weekends away with wife an kids. Also having a few house projects mainly in the yard which requires nice days to complete. So come winter when those two options are no longer options.....LETS RIDE !!!

    Interesting responses..

"money" was listed a few times as a limiter. But as Derdy mentioned, a ride costs a tank of fuel and maybe $20 for food and/or a drink. If money is indeed a limiting factor for riding, then the capital outlay on the bike was probably not a great move.

For me, having money tied up in a bike (plus associated expenses), to be used very occasionally is a waste of good money I can use elsewhere.. Unless I have a large disposable income, which I don't.

Family and time are a big factor which I accept without question. For me it's often work that stops me participating.

And I have read that Facebook has stalled alot of forum sites. Which really sucks as there are some of us who don't subscribe to that crap..

Money is definitely not something that limits me from riding. I would sell my left teste for a tank of juice if I needed to....(Thank fuck I don't)
I don't find my bikes a waste of money. It gives me some much needed down time to switch off from all of the peanuts I deal with on a daily basis.
Modding them is the same it keep me sane...

Not on Facebook. Have zero interest in it.

I'm riding this satdy morning early down the GOR before it gets too hot if anyone is up for a race...
