I use a U Clear AMP. Use it mainly for listening to music. Speakers work great even with earplugs in..The microphone is built in to the speakers so no need for a microphone boom. I try not to answer calls when I'm riding. I ride to get away from fuckwits not to talk to them while riding. The times I have used it the caller said it was pretty clear...

Being a sena does the speakers unplug from the loom. If so upgrade your speakers to the better quality design from the 20s model and onwards.

Well I only have a shitty Chinese version and it works great at high speeds. With the sena are you able to do a software upgrade online. I do think the newer version speaker will do the trick though with a low expense to try

Some helmets are just noisier than others.
    What unit are you using?

Sena is one of the top brands, but the speakers could be buggered.. However, majority of the time it is a noisy helmet, or you got the speakers too far from the ears.. you can get foam spacer pads...

Mine works a treat at speeds way over the legal limit..

I reckon ear plugs help a lot for listening to music. Blocks out a lot of the wind noise and I think gives it more bass

Couldn't agree more. Sizing and quality of the helmet makes a massive difference.

    Outer space!

I’m with Ben on this, and keen to see what everyone has to say!

How do you rate the UCLEAR overall Daisy? I’ve been doing some research and they all seem to have pros and cons...

For example, the UCLEAR has built in mic (awesome) all other brands don’t, the UCLEAR isn’t water proof, but the Scala’s are, the Scala entry level Freedom 1 is not a bad price, compared to the others on the market. The new Sena, looks ugly and has the strange dial thing, and external mic and speakers are apparently shit...

I’m looking for the basics, (same as Ben I think) easy to use connectivity with my phone and the apps, music and GPS (especially GPS, I get lost), and the function to answer emergency calls.
Not fussed in communication with others, as we all have different units and they don’t connect between the brands, they are hard enough as it is to pair between the models, and when they are connected “I believe some” never stop talking, or so I’ve heard...

    So what does everyone recommend?

Have been using the UCLEAR for around 3 years. Cant fault it. Used it in all weather it hasnt missed a beat. I would assume being they are designed to be worn in the elements they would all be water resistant.
Have used it in different helmets Bell RS1, Shoei NXR and is currently in my Shoei x spirit III. I use Alpine Motosafe earplugs that combined with the Shoei Xspirit is the best combo I have used. Just depends on what your gear budget is.
As the speakers are an odd shape you may have to modify the inside of your helmet for perfect fit as your helmet will have round speaker pockets.

As per Daisy above, Shoei helmet, Alpine Motosfe earplugs, but Sena BT setup.
When my new helmet arrives, am going to try the Pactalk Slim with JBL speakers.

The earplugs are what makes it work for me. Music/phone/gps all hear-able, but no headache or ringing ears riding from wind noise, etc
